Skatejam Flying Lessons - 2003
Sports such as BMX cycling and skateboarding demand excellent balance and muscle coordination talents, and a good spatial sense. These talents are also important to many careers, including flying airplanes.

The Sooke Rotary Vocational Committee decided to support the career connection by awarding demonstration flying lessons to the Novice winners of BMX, Inline skating, and skateboarding, at the July 26, 2003, Skatejam competition.

Steve Holland arranged the flying lessons with the Victoria Flying Club, at the Saanich Airport. The pictures below show BMX Novice Leland Brame, age 13, during his flight of a Cessna 150. His flight instructor was Jon Garnett.
